Food Snob

No ... we’re not feeding food to the baby yet. At least not that baby.

A list of foods that our dog does not eat:
  • Sesame honey cashews
  • Pasta with tomato vodka sauce
  • Kettle Corn
  • Honey Nut Cheerios!!
This has got to change. Why else do you have a dog – if not to not have to vacuum and pick up dropped food?! Man's best friend? How 'bout man's* canine vacuum?!

(* or in this case, woman's)

The End of the Fourth Trimester

Dear Ella,

Today you officially end your “fourth trimester” and are three months old! This means we no longer swaddle you like a baby burrito at night, you are becoming more and more like a little person than a little blob, and best of all, you are sleeping through the night!

For the last week you’ve been consistently sleeping between nine and ten hours in a row. And it’s all thanks to that glorious feature that sets us apart from the other species on this planet – the opposable thumb. Instead of waking up and yelling for mom, you soothe yourself back to sleep. Hallelujah!

New tricks:
· Giggling – So far the elusive giggle has only been bestowed on Grammy H and the salesgirl at Babies R Us, but we’re working to figure out what triggers it.
· Rolling over from back-to-stomach and stomach-to-back
· “Raspberries” (Blowing bubbles with sound effects)
· Hair growing. After losing hair for three months, it’s finally going in a positive direction. You now look like a little fuzzy duckling.

This weekend you’ll be moving into your crib from your bassinet – since you touch the top and bottom when you stretch out. So it’s definitely time. But first we’ll have to find places for everything that has piled up in the crib...

This month has flown by. We spent 10 days of it up at Grammy and Papa Heathcote’s place up in Nipomo for your first Christmas and New Year’s Eve. You fell asleep right before we opened presents on Christmas morning, but had fun playing with your new turtle from Tia Maria and the “wind chimes” for your baby gym.

Ellie, you’re such a happy, inquisitive and sweet baby. And it’s hard to imagine life without you.

Love,
Mama

Thumbs up!

Or thumb in, really. Ellie has discovered her thumb and it has come in handy. (No pun intended.) Now in the mornings, when I hear her waking up, it’s to the sound of heavy slurping and she is happily sucking away.

I realize that it’s been awhile since I posted. I’m trying to get our lives and house in order after being away for 10 days up at my parents place in Nipomo for Christmas and New Year’s. More on that later. In the meantime, here are a few new pictures to tide you over.
