Thumber Bummer

There’s a minor crisis in Kleinville. Ella’s sucking thumb is out of commission. This poses a bit of a problem as the magic thumb is what soothes this girl to sleep. And only the right thumb will do. No left thumb. And NO pacifier. We were trying to figure out how she injured it; and upon closer inspection, you can see two teeth marks. Ironically, it appears that it was some serious sucking that caused the problem in the first place.

I’m hoping that it heals up soon. It’s sad to see her bring her thumb to her mouth and then scream because she knows she can’t have what she wants.

I left my heart in San Francisco

Here's a somewhat belated recap of our SF trip. Our week consisted of seeing old friends, new babies, (and new bellies) and eating lots of good food.

A Perfect 10

Dear Ella,

Happy 10-month birthday! It’s been a busy month for the Klein family! We spent a week in SF for the 4th of July and then went to Tahoe for Auntie Laura’s wedding in early August. And then to Seattle the following weekend. Phew!

You did great the entire time -- despite sleeping in strange places and napping in cars, strollers and Grammy and Papa’s fifth wheel. You even stayed smiling (for the most part) while fighting a fever in Seattle. I think you’re also working on cutting your top teeth. So you’ve had a lot going on.

You continue to explore the house and new surroundings and get into absolutely everything. You climbed into our suitcase to help “unpack”. And yesterday I found you had opened up a cupboard and were playing with a China salad plate. Yikes! I don’t think the house will ever be completely Ella-proof.

New this month:

- Waves bye-bye
- Clicks tongue
- Climbs
- Walks while pushing little car, stroller
- First ride in a kayak – a beautiful wood one that Papa Heathcote built

Your new favorite food is mac n' cheese (Trader Joe's non-neon orange version, of course). You're definitely your mama's girl!

Much love,
Mama

P.S. Here are your updated stats from your latest doc visit:
Height = off the charts
Weight = 20%
Head = 80%
