Potty Time

This morning Ella told me "No Diapers!" so, I thought it would be a great opportunity to introduce the Fisher-Price Fun to Learn Potty that her grandparents had bought her for Christmas. But I’m wondering if it’s too fun. Ella loves flushing the toilet, but has yet to sit on it. It might be too similar to her Fisher Price Swirlin’ Surprise Gumballs – where you push a flush-like lever to make gumball drop out of the top. And so most likely she's seeing it as a new toy, and not a new commode.

She meets all the “readiness” signs on the checklist,
-- so I guess we’ll just leave the potty in the bathroom and keep asking her if she wants to sit on it. And maybe try having her sit her baby on it. Any other ideas?

The Name Game

Ella has her own unique pronunciation for the names of some family members and friends. I wonder if she’ll eventually adopt the real names or if she’ll always call her Gramma “FaFa” -- like all the cousins called our Grandma “Bammi”… because my brother couldn’t say Grandma. I guess that’s one of the many perks of being the first Grandkid. You get all the attention and the naming rights.

Ella = I-ya
Grammy = Ma-my
Gramma = FaFa
Ian = E-nin
Tia Maria = Tia
Cam = Pam
Dorothy = DeeThee
Charlie = KaKa

We spent Saturday at a Chili Cook-off with our friend Ellie, her sister Katie and her sister's boyfriend Ian. I hope Ella wasn't too confused ...

Other Ella-isms (Words that I know she knows, but choses not to use):
Down = Nuck
Star = Up above the
Starfish = Up-above-the-fish
Water = Agua
Thank you = Boo poo
