Happy Half Birthday!

Dear Ella,

Yesterday was Friday the 13th and the only notable occurrence around here was your 2 and ½ year birthday. The past six months have been an explosion of language. I love to hear what comes out of your mouth. Some recent examples:

Peeking out of the hall closet: “I doing a lot of peeking. I peeking like a peacock!”

“Actually, Mommy, it’s a bear.”

Looking at the popcorn bowl “That says Popcorn: “P-O-O-P-O!”

Your favorite game is Hide and Seek. (You only tell us where to hide about half the time.) Your favorite food is chow mein noodles, which you also call “Chinese noodles.” And your favorite toy is your baby doll. This is good, since you’re going to be a big sister in September. You’re just starting to get the concept, saying “I have a baby in my tummy, too.” Although the follwing exchange shows that it’s not quite entirely clear:

Ella: I having a baby brother AND a baby sister.
Daddy: No, just one baby.
Ella: No, lots of babies!

Trust us, there’s just one.

Happy un-birthday, my favorite 2 and ½ year old.

Love,
Mama

Easter in Nipomo

We spent Easter in Nipomo again this year. It was a great weekend getaway, made even greater by sharing the day with our good friends the Klines and their two girls, Hannah and Alyssa.

Ella loved having a five-year old to pal around with.

And a 10-month old to play with.

This was the first year that Ella “got” the Easter Egg hunt

And was big enough to help dye the eggs with Grammy.
