It was seven months ago today

Dear Sarah,

This month has been a good one. You’re eating well, sleeping well and are as happy as ever. We did “sleep training” this month – in other words, we let you cry. You cried for a long time the first night and then quickly figured out, “Hey, no one is coming, I should just go back to sleep.” And you’ve been sleeping like a champ ever since. Thank you!

[When you get tired, you play with the handle on your binky – flipping it up and down. It’s quite cute. This is not your binky -- it's a self-feeder that you LOVE -- and we love b/c it allows us to finish our dinner in peace.]

Napping, on the other hand, is somewhat spottier. Which I’ll admit, is just as much my fault as yours – you rarely get to sleep in your own bed in the morning – and you don’t want to miss a thing. It will be interesting to see what happens when you’re no longer in the portable (yet weighty) “baby bucket.” I will actually have to remove you from the car seat to get you into the store or house. So you’re staying in it as long as physically possible, which isn’t much longer.

[My first attempt at sewing clothes for you. Cutest fabric ever.]

You’ve learned to scoot backwards, and cover a foot or so of ground before you invariably run into something. I’m not in any hurry for you to crawl, and I don’t think your big sister is either. She vacillates between sweetly bringing you some of her toys to grabbing them away, yelling, “No, Sarie!” (It took us a while to realize she wasn’t calling you “Sally” or “Silly”.)

[Quick! Ella's sleeping.]

I love you!
Mama
